Club President, Karl Drever, today confirmed the re-signings of senior coaches Joe Carmody and Rachael Cross for the 2021 season.
Rachael and Joe led our playing groups through the uncertainty and challenges of 2020 exceptionally well. It’s unfortunate for everyone involved that the season cannot be played, however with this announcement we begin the planning for an enjoyable and successful 2021 season.
– Karl Drever, BFNC President.
Carmody said the senior playing group did everything in their power to be ready to play this season. “There was a lot of effort by a lot of people around the club, to make sure it was a safe environment. A lot of organisation that the players needed to follow and they did that really well. Disappointed we didn’t get to play, but it shows the character of the people we’ve got here”.
Andrew Hooper, our senior assistant playing coach, is committed to 2021 and we have some further announcements to make in the coming weeks with our senior playing group.
– Joe Carmody, Senior Football Coach.
Cross said the players positive attitudes and commitment to keeping fit was outstanding. “Our players are really keen, they’ve got a great bright outlook on the future. We’ll keep going, keep training, hard work gets rewarded and we’re looking forward to next year.”
Drever spoke about local community and supporting one another to come out the other side together. “Our lives have all changed because of Covid. As a club we’re in unchartered waters like every community club is, but I’m confident in the group of people we have in our senior group and our junior groups leading. Our people and sponsors are getting through this together. This community resilience shown, will ensure our BFNC members and the Alfredton community will continue to enjoy the club environment that the Ballarat Football Netball Club offers.”
